Milica Basta, senior associate at BDK Advokati, has held a seminar on the processing of personal data in the context of employment for representatives of Serbian companies. The event took place on 26 September 2019 in Belgrade and was hosted by Forum Media.
In her presentation, Milica examined the legal bases on which employers may rely when they process personal data of the employees. She also analysed specific conditions to be met for lawfully conducting background checks and internal investigations, and for using hotline schemes or video surveillance systems. Milica also explored the criteria for determining appropriate retention periods for various categories of employee data.
The interactive nature of the training encouraged the participants to present and discuss numerous challenges which they confront in the day-to-day practice. Milica considered potential, data protection-compliant, solutions for those challenges.
