BDK Advokati launches in-house Law is Fun! series with “Fifty Shades of Dress Code”

The honor of holding the first presentation as part of BDK’s Law is Fun! series fell upon Irena Kalmić, attorney-at-law in BDK’s employment team. Her presentation, entitled “Fifty Shades of Dress Code”, focused on the recent US case EEOC v. Catastrophe Management Solutions (11th Cir., Sep. 2016). In that case, the issue was whether an employer’s ban on dreadlocks amounts to discrimination based on race. Irena also touched upon recent cases in the EU or its member states, concerning workplace ban on headscarves and other religious symbols, as well as on cases analyzing whether an employer can lawfully impose on female workers to wear heals and make-up at work.

Law is Fun! is a BDK training programme designed to let associates practice and develop their soft skills while sharing with colleagues interesting legal developments in the world.
