Our senior associate Marija Gligorević held on 17 October 2024 a workshop for in-house counsels and HRs on termination of employment for redundancy caused by technological, economic or organizational changes.
Marija explained the procedure for managing redundancy procedure, detailing the differences between individual and mass redundancy. The workshop also focused on the relevant redundancy documentation. Marija provided guidance on criteria for selecting redundant employees, based on extensive case law she shared with the participants. The workshop addressed key issues related to protected categories of employees, employment ban, and the possibility of replacing redundant employees with flexible workers. Additionally, Marija outlined the roles of trade unions and the National Employment Service and offered insight into the rules on calculation and processing severance pay.
Following the presentation, participants discussed various examples drawn from their own experiences.
