BDK’s Ana Jankov and the representatives of the National Employment Service, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Internal Affairs discussed the Act on Employment of Foreigners at a session hosted by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and attended by some 30 representatives of Serbian companies. The speakers addressed practical issues such as the possibility of obtaining more than one work permit by the same person for the same period, the precise moment for the initiation of the labor market test etc. It transpired that some of the practical difficulties faced by the employers and foreign employees, such as inability to obtain work permit based on a service contract or inability to obtain work permit via Serbian embassy in the home country of the applicant, are a result of the fact that the relevant internal enactments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are outdated and require harmonization with the Act on Employment of Foreigners. The presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session.
