Busy arbitration weekend
Last Friday, 20 March 2026, BDK Advokati hosted the inaugural event of the Serbian-German Arbitration Group, titled "Bridging Legal Cultures: Managing German and Serbian Approaches in Arbitration". The event included a panel discussion among Jörn Hombeck (Hanefeld), Sofia Kovaćević (Energy Community), and Jovana Rubežić (CWP Europe), moderated by Evgenia Peiffer (CMS).
The Serbian-German Arbitration Group is a product of cooperation among the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the Belgrade Arbitration Center, and the Serbian Arbitration Association. It brings together practitioners, in-house counsel, arbitrators, and other stakeholders with an interest in arbitration in both countries, with the aim to foster cross-border dialogue, strengthen professional networks, and deepen mutual understanding of arbitration practice in Serbia and Germany. The group is co-chaired by Evgenia Peiffer (CMS) and Blagoje Milošević (Schoenherr), and its core team consists of Radmila Đurđević, Milena Radosavljević, Milica Savić, Fraser Clark, Duncan Gorst, as well as our Relja Radović.
In the afternoon, our Relja Radović took part in the panel "Specials of the Day" at the XVI Belgrade Arbitration Conference, devoted to diverse hot topics in arbitration: the effect of sanctions regimes on arbitration, parallel criminal investigations, AI in arbitration, digital evidence and deepfakes. The panel was moderated by Tanja Šumar (Nikčević Kapor), and included Borna Dejanović (Wolf Theiss), Petra Marjanović (Ilej & Partners), Nika Rassadina (CMS), and Marija Šobat (GBS Disputes) as speakers.
During the weekend, we traditionally hosted teams presenting their arguments before a panel of lawyers, professors, and arbitrators, as part of their preparation for the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The event gathered talented law students from 25 countries. Our colleagues Milan Popović, Sara Tadić, and Relja Radović welcomed the participants and actively supported them throughout their preparations for the upcoming moot.
Best of luck to the Belgrade Vis Moot Team in Vienna!
