Milica Basta, consultant in BDK Advokati’s Data Protection Practice, delivered two training courses in the period between 8 and 13 September 2016 to diverse groups of personal data controllers, as part of a project launched by the Serbian data protection authority (DPA).
Milica spoke on 8 and 9 September to the audience made of professionals from the Serbian prosecutorial offices, while on 12 and 13 September she addressed representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Security Information Agency, and providers of private security services. Both training sessions took part in the premises of the trainings’ organizer, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (Serbia’s DPA). Over the next year, the DPA will host training sessions for representatives of banks and other financial institutions, businesses, government representatives, health and educational institutions, scientific institutions, and other stakeholders.
In her presentations, Milica addressed the legal grounds for personal data processing, security measures which data controllers have to undertake in order to protect the data, as well as the requirements for a lawful transfer personal data abroad. She also discussed with the participants those aspects of the data processing that are particularly relevant and characteristic for their professions.
The other speaker at the training sessions was Ana Toskić, project manager in the non-governmental organization “Partners for Democratic Change Serbia”.
