The last five years of the Serbian and Montenegrin payment services markets have been marked by the introduction of new players: payment institutions and electronic money institutions. The competition among the established and emerging payment services providers is expected to intensify with further alignment of national laws and EU regulations, such as PSD2. Bosnia is currently lagging behind the regional trend, but it is moving in the same direction.
BDK has been active in the advisory work for the payment services clients since the outset of the market liberalisation. We have been the firm of choice for clients operating locally and in cross-border payment space. We have counselled industry-leading companies on providing payment services and related technology solutions to the local residents. We can also assists foreign corporates in establishing local subsidiaries or acquiring existing players, and obtaining authorizations from the regulatory authority to provide a range of payment services. We have done work in the field for, amongst other clients, Google, Payoneer, Paysafe, PayPoint, WorldPay, Moneygram.
